Treating everyone equally

The only way to avoid discrimination

Living in such a politically correct and rule-abiding society, the only way to avoid a lawsuit is to treat everyone equally, whether religious or not.

With British TV’s Channel 4 having a veil-wearing Muslim to give their alternative Christmas message on Christmas Day this year, it’s clear that the argument around head coverings won’t go away easily. But I’m wondering how much this will help to bring people together to understand the divide and how much it will help to keep the debate rumbling on.

Whether or not the Dutch government are moving in the right direction by trying to ban the hijab in public or whether this is really religious discrimination is really a point which can go on and on. But I’d like to hear your views. Do you think this law would treat Muslims differently or should all religions be treated the same as anyone who wants to cover up in public? It’s a difficult choice but surely, whether you’re religious or not, it’s about treating people equally. So have a look on the discussion page and give your views, even if they’re controversial. Just remember to be polite and state your opinion.

Should it be equality for all and ignore the religious freedom or allow religious freedom and risk treating people differently? And what would the consequences be?
