This week has seen massive changes in my life which unfortunately have all come at once. As well as having an operation a few weeks ago, we have now moved house and are preparing for a trip to Canada for a friend’s wedding. Add in that we are renting out our old house and my passport went missing somewhere in the middle and you’ll have an idea that this week has been busier than most. All I can say is, let’s hope we get to Canada safely and stay safe while we’re there.
The funny thing is, I don’t feel worried about travelling at all. Despite the recent terrorist attacks in London and at Glasgow airport, I’ve never been worried about flying or using public transport. Especially if the recent attacks are anything to go by – badly planned and badly executed, which I’m sure the terrorists won’t be if someone in al-Qaeda ever gets hold of them.
In Britain we’re used to being bombed and targeted. If it isn’t the IRA, it’s al-Qaeda and if it isn’t them, it’s someone with a gun or a point to prove. Don’t get me wrong. It doesn’t happen all the time, but if you live life like it does it’s bound to get you down.
What worries me more is how prejudiced everyone is towards other people. Reading different articles and blogs researching for this week’s article, I was surprised at how many people now say that all Muslims should be deported to prevent any further bombings. Personally, I would rather deport those people instead.
Have a look at some of the news stories about the recent bombings, or better still, read my article this week and its follow-up next week and decide where you stand on the issue.
