I’ve never been someone for making new year’s resolutions because I think that if I want to do something I’ll do it whether it’s the start of a new year or not. I’m not the sort of person who likes to set myself targets and then see how long I keep my promises for. I’d much rather make a decision and know I’ll keep to it.
But if you make new year’s resolutions, what will you promise? To lose weight after Christmas? To work hard for that extra income to pay of the debts run up towards the end of 2006? To get out of bed that few minutes earlier to make sure you miss the rush hour or catch your bus? There are countless number of resolutions you could make, but what would make a real difference to your life and the lives of others around you? What could be done on a daily basis to make your life easier, more pleasant and benefit the people you live, work and socialise with? The resolution to spend more time trying to understand people, because it’s understanding people which helps to break down the barriers and a life without barriers means an easier journey.
Try to approach religions in the same way: think what they really teach and what their principles are. Read this week’s article to find out more and give your views in the discussion on this topic.
