Christmas time should be a time for giving, forgiving, loving, caring and remembering why we celebrate it every year.
But a week of turmoil at work culminated today with violent clashes between pupils which the police are still investigating. Ongoing rifts between different groups came to a head with, allegedly, a baseball bat and stolen canteen cutlery, as the week came to a sorry end.
Isn’t it sad that people can’t get on with each other because of the colour of their skin and what they believe? I can’t get over the fact that some people are so petty, with these disagreements being carried on for ages as the two individuals grow into two small groups and then two larger groups and so on. Yet for some reason, no-one really knows how or why it first starts or quite how it grows so big.
All I know is that hatred breeds hatred and violence doesn’t end violence. And it can start off with simple discrimination which seems quite innocent but quickly spreads, as Switzerland may yet find out. So read this article and join a discussion to have a say what you think.
As for me, the Christmas holidays – and peace – can’t come quick enough.
