Angels or Pure Chance?

Something happened last week which made me think how precious life is and brought everything important to me right back to my doorstep.

My wife was driving along in the middle lane of the motorway with our two year old son in the car when out of nowhere the car bonnet flipped up and smashed against the windscreen. Should she slam her foot on the break and risk someone running into the back of them? Or should she slow down more slowly and risk driving into the cars in front? And in the middle lane of the motorway at rush hour, she couldn’t just pull over.

Two men stopped and helped her off the motorway and on to the hard shoulder. How often does that happen with bus drivers on a busy motorway at rush hour? Thank God for good Samaritans.

Or were they? I know that there are plenty of good people out there but even that seems to be pushing it. No-one was hurt, there was no accident and the only thing that happened was my wife and son were left very shaken and the car was damaged.

My mother-in-law talks of angels and the protection they offer and for once I think my wife and son were protected by angels. These beings from a higher place who look after people appear to have saved the lives of my wife and son.

And it made me think how special they both are to me.
